UK National Climate Change Regulations

 

Over recent years there has been a real change in the pace and focus in implementing Carbon and Climate Change Legislation, to help change the way business thinks about their impact on the environment. The transition towards a low carbon economy will be gather further pace in the years to come.

 

So far obligated business and local authorities have to be aware of the following:

 

EU Emissions Scheme (EU –ETS)

Climate Change Agreements (CCA)

CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC)

 

The UK Government has recently passed the Climate Change ACT 2009 which has legally binding stretched carbon reduction targets for the United Kingdom. The targets commit the UK to reducing its carbon emissions by 80% by 2050.

 

International Climate Change Regulation drives the UK and other countries to reduce their carbon emissions and come under the the Koyoto Protocol and its successor
